The work of James Murray explores questions of corporeality, materiality and desire at points of intersection between painting, sculpture, and photography.
Underpinning these concerns is an ongoing reflection on the processes and production of the work. Here Murray proposes an allegorical relationship between the notion of desire as a self-perpetuating drive and his studio practice as a site for the enactment of desire, the pursuit of the unattainable object, of perfection in form.
